We are seeking a Locum ED FACEM VMO to join Armidale Hospital’s Emergency Department in a unique role. This position offers the chance to practise high-impact emergency medicine in a rural regional setting, with significant autonomy and exposure to a diverse and often complex caseload. While the workload can at times be high and junior support is limited, this creates an excellent opportunity for a confident FACEM to take on meaningful leadership, shape clinical processes, and enjoy hands-on, broadly scoped emergency practice.
Armidale itself is a highly liveable city in the New England region of NSW, known for its cool climate, four distinct seasons, national parks, waterfalls, and strong cultural and educational community. Travel is convenient: it’s an easy 5.5–6.5-hour drive from both Sydney and Brisbane, and Armidale Airport offers direct flights to Sydney (QantasLink) and Brisbane (Link Airways). The town combines the charm and community of rural life with the amenities of a well-established regional centre.
