Overview

Karratha Health Campus is a modern regional healthcare facility serving the city of Karratha and surrounding communities in Western Australia’s Pilbara region. With approximately 40 beds, the hospital provides emergency care, surgery, medicine, obstetrics, pediatrics, mental health, dialysis, and outpatient services. Operating under WA Country Health Service, Karratha Health Campus opened in 2018 following a $207.15 million development, replacing the older Nickol Bay Hospital with state-of-the-art infrastructure. The facility serves a diverse population of approximately 25,000 people across this remote mining region. Karratha Health Campus employs telehealth capabilities to connect patients with specialists in Perth and works closely with the Royal Flying Doctor Service for emergency retrievals. The hospital plays a vital role in this regional center located approximately 1,500 kilometers north of Perth, providing essential healthcare services despite the enormous distances to metropolitan facilities.
