Overview

Northern Beaches Hospital is a modern healthcare facility in Frenchs Forest, Sydney, providing both public and private patient services under a public-private partnership model. With approximately 500 beds total (split between public and private wards), this comprehensive hospital offers a full spectrum of services including emergency care, intensive care, complex surgery, medical care, maternity, pediatrics, mental health, and rehabilitation. The facility features state-of-the-art infrastructure including advanced operating theaters, emergency department, intensive care unit, cardiac catheterisation laboratory, mental health facilities, and extensive outpatient spaces. Opened in 2018, Northern Beaches Hospital represents one of Australia’s largest healthcare infrastructure projects of recent years, replacing multiple smaller facilities to create a consolidated healthcare precinct for Sydney’s Northern Beaches region. The hospital employs over 1,400 staff and serves a population of approximately 270,000 residents across Sydney’s Northern Beaches. Its unique public-private model aims to provide seamless care across funding streams while maximising infrastructure efficiency. The hospital has experienced some operational challenges during its establishment phase but continues to evolve its service delivery to meet community needs.
